Worms
A regular worming program is essential
While worming is effective in killing worms that are present in the intestine at the time of treatment, worming is not a vaccine against future attacks.
This is why regular treatment, especially in your pet's early months, is essential to the pet's health. Dogs and cats can be reinfected from other pets and from the environment.
Intestinal worm treatments such as DRONTAL and PROFENDER should be applied every 3 months to control worms. Combined treatments such as Advocate should be applied monthly. Just click below for the recommended treatment periods of the relevant products.
Tips to keep worms away longer
In combination with a regular worming program, the following tips will help keep your pet - and your family - healthy and worm free:
- Clean pet sleeping areas regularly.
- Control fleas on your pet with ADVOCATE or ADVANTAGE, to help prevent common flea tapeworm.
- Avoid feeding your pets raw meat or offal, and prevent them from eating rodents or rabbits.
- Feed your pet quality pet food, whether canned or dried.
- Wash your hands after playing with your pet, and don't let a pet lick your face. Teach children to wash their hands, especially before meals.
- Remove faeces from the environment and litter trays.
- Control intermediate hosts of worms, such as rats and mice.
